Major surgeries under general anesthesia with hospitalisation

Once you decide to proceed with surgery, our hospital coordinator will contact you. We offer communication in multiple languages to ensure you fully understand the information provided. Additionally, there is dedicated support for international patients throughout the entire process, including:

Before Surgery:

Blood tests

ECG and X-ray (if required)

A consultation with the anesthetist

Pre-Surgery Instructions:

Fasting: You will need to fast before the procedure—usually 6 hours without food and 4 hours without water. The anesthetist will provide any additional instructions.

Accompaniment: If you require hospitalization, you can come alone, or your companion can wait in your room until after the surgery.

Packing: Please bring comfortable clothing and any electronic devices you may want to use during your stay, particularly for the first evening.

Packing: Please bring comfortable clothing and any electronic devices you may want to use during your stay, particularly for the first evening.

During Surgery:

We strive to ensure that you enter the operating theater feeling as relaxed and comfortable as possible. Most ENT surgeries typically last between 1 and 4 hours, depending on the nature of the procedure. If the surgery takes longer than expected, it does not necessarily indicate any complications—this simply means we are taking the time needed to ensure your safety and the best possible outcome.

After Surgery:

For Outpatient Surgery: If the surgery does not require hospitalization, you will remain in the surgical area for approximately one hour for observation to ensure no complications arise before being discharged. Most pediatric surgeries fall into this category, though not exclusively.

For Inpatient Care: If hospitalization is required, you will typically stay for one night. Nurses will assist you in having your first sip of water and your first meal, usually about 6 hours after general anesthesia. Some procedures (e.g., tonsillectomy, vocal cord surgery, or major nasal surgery) may require specific dietary restrictions or special post-operative care. We will ensure you are fully informed about these in advance.

While we aim to avoid nasal tampons, if necessary, we will insert them during surgery and remove them the following morning. The first night may be a bit challenging due to nasal congestion, but it is generally manageable.

You will be discharged the next morning with a detailed medical report explaining the medication you need to take and any further post-operative restrictions. Please be sure to stop by the pharmacy to pick up the prescribed medications.

General postoperative Guidelines:

No physical activity or sports for 1 week

We call you on your first morning at home to check how do you feel

Personal follow-up appointment is 1 week after surgery

Adhere to any specific dietary restrictions based on the type of surgery

Follow any special care instructions, such as nasal rinsing after nasal surgery, and avoid blowing your nose.

Pain management is an important part of recovery. Please let us know, if your medication is insufficient.

We will guide you through every step of the recovery process to ensure the best possible outcome.
